Island Hotels Group recently organised an extensive training program for all its management in Employees Assistance Program support. In line with the company values of respect and loyalty, the EAP was introduced last August as a vehicle of support for staff who cannot earn a livelihood through no fault of their own.
The training coordinated by psychologist Patrick Psaila BA, M.Ed (Vancouver), was held during September for all line managers within Island Hotels Group. The aim of the programme was to sensitize management to problems employees may be facing while at work, to offer support and direct them to channels of assistance made available through the EAP program. The topics covered included sensitization to psychosocial problems at work, approaching people with psychosocial problems and a briefing on the nature of the existing professions and services that are available to tap into.
Winston J. Zahra, Director of Operations, Sales & Marketing, Island Hotels Group stated, “Concern and care for our employees are the core of Island Hotels Group values. We are proud of the fact that we have now launched an excellent support service for our staff through the EAP program. It is very important that all line managers are trained to offer the necessary support and this is why we have undertaken such extensive training on the subject.” |
