Island Hotels Group plc has been recognized by the foundation of Human Resources for their Excellent Initiative in Human Resources during the annual HR Awards Ceremony held last week. The initiative presented to FHRD is in itself a reward and recognition scheme known as The Pearl Awards which was introduced by the group in 2008 for the first edition of the event. Its success in motivating employees and recognizing excellence by identifying ambassadors within the organization for ten different categories has lead to The Pearl Awards becoming an annual event which inspires all employees to live the company’s values and to seek excellence in their performance. The Pearl Awards is one of many initiatives launched by IHGH aimed at recognizing, training and developing its employees and the group’s HR team continuously seeks to introduce new initiatives to continue to keep the core family values of the company alive.

Mr. Winston J. Zahra, CEO of the group, stated that, “as a group we are very proud to have been given this prestigious recognition by the FHRD. Our team of employees are critically important to our success and our Human resources team worked very hard to  develop the Pear Awards within the group to recognise those individuals who go beyond what is normally expected in living the core values of the Group.  We are very pleased to that our initiative has been recognised at a national level”.
