On Wednesday 25th November, 52 Island Hotels Group Holdings plc employees received special recognition awards known within the company as Pearl Awards.
During this annual award ceremony a number of Group employees where recognized for going above and beyond what is normally expected from them in the areas that represent the core values of the group. The values of the group are embodied in the acronym PEARL, hence the name of the awards.
The award categories ensure that employees at all levels and from all departments may qualify ensuring that any employee who genuinely lives the values is recognized for their efforts. The categories include friendliness, creativity, eco initiatives and humanitarian deeds amongst others. Mr. Patrick Galea was invited to the event as a special guest after being recognized by the Malta Tourism Authority as Hotel Worker of the Year, a national competition held earlier this year.
All 52 Nominees were recognized and rewarded with certificates, cash gifts, vouchers and a Pearl pin, whilst the 10 Overall Pearl Awardees were also presented with a crafted crystal award and will go on to be the Ambassadors for the company in the coming year.

Ms. Christina Galea, the Group’s Human Resources Director highlighted that, “The value of recognizing employees for excellence and outstanding performance is priceless and the effect of such recognition lasts throughout the year as each nominee is seen as an ambassador for their company. Additionally the pride of receiving such recognition in the presence of their spouse and managers further strengthens their motivation to continue to live those values in their daily lives. The Pearl Awards Gala Night has indeed become a major event for Island Hotels Group Holdings plc and it reflects the genuine investment the company is ready to make in its people.” |
